AAF-KC Member of the Year, ad2 Member of the Year and Art+Copy Member of the Year nominations have been made. Now it will be your turn to vote on which of the three deserving individuals from each group should win this annual recognition to be awarded at the ADDYs on Saturday, February 18.  

Rules for Voting: You must be an AAF-KC, ad2, or Art+Copy Club member to vote for the prospective Member of the Year for that group. You must be a member in good standing with all dues up to date. You may only vote for one person in each category (if you are voting in multiple catgories) and you may only vote one time. Voting will be open until 5pm on Friday, January 27, so vote NOW!

Emily Dore // VML
Emily is a ten-year veteran of the Kansas City ad community. She started her career in 2002 at Barkley and moved to VML in 2010 where she is now the Account Director for SAP. This is Emily’s third year on the AAF-KC Board and second year on the AAF-KC Executive Board as the Vice President/Programs. Emily is responsible for establishing a new streamlined process for developing the annual programs calendar, which has resulted in better member attendance and engagement. She supports a rock star cast of event chairs to make sure they have everything needed to plan and execute successful events. When she is not at her real job or working on AAF initiatives, Emily spends her other free time helping homeless pets. During the last 8 years she has served on the boards of three different KC animal welfare groups.

Sheree Johnson // Meers Advertising
Sheree has been an active member of the KC and national advertising community for numerous years. In fact, 2012 is her 25th anniversary of being an AAF-KC/Ad Club member and her second consecutive year for being nominated Member of the Year. She has served on the current AAF-KC board for two years, her second stint as a board of director. Sheree is part of the AAF-KC Communications team and she is responsible for naming and managing AAF-KC’s “KC Ad Briefs” and produces, edits and deploys all email communications for not only AAF-KC, but also for ad2 and Art+Copy Club. As part of AAF-KC’s communications' efforts, she began soliciting online/email advertising for the club this year, which has already contributed unbudgeted income for AAF-KC.  She also helps AAF-KC's President in documenting key facts/insights on why we are such a great ad town! Sheree is Director of Business Intelligence at Meers Advertising, where she manages data analytics, predictive modeling, market research and more.

Sam Meers // Meers Advertising
A strong proponent of digital marketing and advertising, Sam has developed his marketing communications beliefs through experience. Founding Meers Advertising in 1993, he brings over 30 years of consumer and business-to-business experience to the company. Some of the brands with which Sam has worked include Eli Lilly, multiple plans of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, Ralston Purina, Dow Chemical, Upjohn, Boehringer Ingelheim, and WageWorks. Sam posts frequently to his blog, Smoke & Meers, on advertising and marketing topics. He has been a guest lecturer at the Universities of Kansas, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa and Northwestern University. Meers serves as Vice President of the American Advertising Federation of Kansas City, is on the Kansas City Board of Governors of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, is a member of the Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program, and is a long-time supporter of Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics.

Claire Cunningham // MMGY Global
This feisty redhead, former blonde, has dedicated herself to making this year’s ad2 Virtual Agency one to remember. She leads a team of 22 all-star volunteers helping with the marketing / advertising efforts of this year’s client, Sleepyhead Beds. With her caffeine induced energy she’s managed to take what once was a 3 project contract, to now include planning and strategy, branding, design, social, public relations, market research and some direct marketing for the non-profit client. Her team will do whatever it takes to get more of those little heads in beds. When she’s not at weekly VA meetings she works as a Senior Art Director at MMGY Global, is also involved in the Junior League of KC, and is a first violinist for the Lee’s Summit Symphony. Whew! Who wants another latte?

Adrienne Hill // VML
Adrienne is honored to be nominated for ad2 Member of the Year. She is a project manager at VML and has been an active AAF-KC member since 2007. Since joining the ad2 council in 2009, Adrienne chaired Ad Wars in 2010 and 2011 and revitalized Art of the Call in 2011 to be one of the most successful ad2 fundraising events. Adrienne is very involved in the Kansas City community and among many affiliations she sits on the Board of the Kansas City Chorale and is an active volunteer at Rose Brooks Center. Adrienne received a BA in Art History, BS in Journalism and minor in French from The University of Kansas and loves travel, art, fashion and yoga.

Kyle Rohde // ER Marketing
In his 6th year on the ad2 council, Kyle took on the role of Membership Chair, working with the AAF-KC and Art+Copy Club Membership chairs on a proposal to revamp the membership structure and grow the overall membership (details coming soon!). He served as the Ad Wars “question master” and continues to help with other events and the Virtual Agency whenever possible. In addition, Kyle is in his 5th year on the AAF-KC Foundation board, where he’s in charge of getting as many scholarship applications as possible. In 2011, a record 120+ students applied so mission accomplished! Kyle also helped revamp the application and scoring processes to make them easier for both the students and board. With a mandatory term-limit of six years, this is Kyle’s last on the ad2 council; he’d love to end it on a high note by receiving your vote – thanks in advance!

Jeremy Johnson // GlynnDevins
This is Jeremy’s third consecutive Art+Copy Club Member of the Year nomination. Following two highly successful years as President of A+C, Jeremy now serves on the membership committee and advises the club as Immediate Past President. For 11 years, he’s worked for GlynnDevins and is currently a Group Creative Director. Jeremy often believes in hard work and always in playing harder. No Susan Lucci fan, he takes a third-time’s-the-charm attitude (and fondles the rabbit’s foot in his pocket) when it comes to getting his name on the Member of the Year ADDY.

Krista Masilionis // Hallmark
Dedicated. Resourceful. Goofy. Good words to describe this crazy cat. She’s spent the past two years helping out with Programming and recently raised her hand to be an Addy Co-Chair. Krista believes that KC is a creative mecca. And, she works hard to put KC on the map by promoting the work to potential clients/creatives and by representing on the John Caples International Awards Jury. Krista also lends her time to the city’s future talent in the form of mentorships, internships and teaching a special topics course for the fourth year through KU. You can always count on this busy mother-of-three to volunteer a helpful hand, do an inspirational cheer or share a dirty joke. Krista, recently with BR and VML, is now chartering a new career path as an Art Director at Hallmark.

Joy Moeller // 19 Below
In an effort to diversify the board and the voice of the Art+Copy Club, Joy brings a creative perspective reflective of the vendor culture in Kansas City advertising.  Her hope has been to encourage the production and postproduction talent in Kansas City to realize that participation in the AAF is much more than a networking opportunity.  Working as a council member, Joy has pushed for the vendor voice to be heard and integrated when planning ad community events, speakers and programs. While on the Art+Copy Club board, Joy has worked on ADDYs and Special Events.  Her career passion is postproduction; editing proved not to be enough however, and her entrepreneurial desires surfaced. Over the last ten years Joy has played a significant role in shaping the postproduction landscape in Kansas City by helping open the doors to Liquid 9 and 19 Below, where she currently acts as Creative Director and Editor.
