One of the most unique things about AAF-KC is our Foundation, which has existed for over 30 years thanks to the stewardship of our club’s leaders at that time. The AAF-KC Foundation sold our club building (the old KC School of Law building at 908 Baltimore – now the KC Library administrative offices) and put that money into a trust, managed by the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. That money is used to provide scholarships for area college students, in perpetuity, without having to fundraise or ask you, our members, to contribute to it.

The AAF-KC Foundation committee is made up of a diverse group of Kansas City industry leaders, including:

  • Jon Cook, VML
  • Ali Mahaffy, Sullivan Higdon & Sink
  • Vernon Williams, Bernstein-Rein
  • Kay Moore, Affinity Enterprise Group
  • Chris Corley, VML
  • Linda Buchner
  • Krista Masilionis, Hallmark
  • Kyle Rohde, VML
  • Theresa Thornhill, MMGY
  • Zach Mendenhall, VML
  • AAF-KC executive director (Sarah Dyerson)
  • AAF-KC board president (Rebecca Schwartz, Hallmark)
  • Ad 2 council president (Jordan Warren, GlynnDevins)
  • Art+Copy Club council president (Josh Chavis, Global Prairie)

The scholarship is open to students majoring in advertising-related disciplines from 19 different area schools, including:

  • Avila University
  • Benedictine College
  • Fort Hays State University
  • Johnson County Community College
  • Kansas City Art Institute
  • Kansas State University

  • Rockhurst University
  • University of Central Missouri

Scholarship winners receive free membership to AAF National/AAF-KC, free admission to almost every AAF-KC event, $1,500 toward school bills, and a mentor working in KC in the area of the business they’re most interested in.
